3 Day Cleansing and Children

When I started out in the family herbalist program, Dr. Christopher mentioned several times about putting children on the 3day Cleanse. I dismissed this as impossible...a trend I kept for that whole program! Shame on me!

So what happens to these monkeys is they want to do what they see their parents doing. The kind of mom I am makes it really hard to allow these things to transpire, I'm always deciding what everybody is going to do! But this time I let it go, as an impossible task, even tho I was/am certain that all of my babies would do well to do this cleanse. They listen to the lectures with me as well as conversation with Christian. Its just a fact: my kids want to be involved, and that's exactly how you can get them to do things and they think it's their own idea and you can't convince them other wise. I think this is funny, they'll even tell you how cayenne pepper really helps, and bravely suck it down!

Honestly, here's the bait. They are eyeballing that whole gallon of organic unfiltered apple juice with my name on it and thinking of the possibilities. So, I tell them it takes dedication especially when everyone around them is eating something tasty, it can get boring, you run to the bathroom very often and that makes you a bit sore, etc. Then I tell them that yes, it would be good for them, headaches might go away, pimples might get cleared up, and they might loose that dandruff collection, and maybe your itchy skin might clear up. The conversation goes on to include: and it if it doesn't clear up all those symptoms you are on the right track for the herbs to begin working on those problems and over a bit of time we can be ahead of the problem until it is no longer part of us.

So, this week two of my children are doing the cleanse. The 16 year old and the 12 year old. I thought it would be easier to do them at the same time. And if I'm patient others will soon follow, they are already mulling it over in their heads. Truthfully, there are two that say they absolutely will not do it at all...not yet, anyhow!

Day One: Both kids all psyched up and, "my, apple juice is yummy; oops gotta run to the bathroom!" all day. Both cooperative and faithful.

Day Two: Repeat day one and add major emotional breakdown. I sent them to my sanctuary (my bedroom) with instructions to use the Chi machine and crawl under my covers (they love my bed). It worked its magic! They needed to rest. Both had headaches

Day Three: resting, juice, some complaining, running to the bathroom, water, and repeat over the next 12 hours. The last day hoorahs from all the family and a great nights sleep. At total of 6 lbs apiece lost. My daughter complained of pain in her lower back.

For breakfast my boy, who horded portions of the food we ate on the last day in tubs, pulled it all out and ate and ate. The main food item: cauliflower and dip. He greedily ate everything in sight, but mostly wanted vegetables. My daughter on the other hand wanted the cupcake with sprinkles, but after one bite she whined that it didn't taste good and proceeded to be disappointed with all her horded food and actually made better choices. Of course her taste buds readjusted to her old ways and the cupcake princess returned.

Bottom line: My boy lost his belly pooch (even now 2 weeks later) and his BMs are regular, as well as no reported headaches.
My daughter on the other hand did not see any difference in her eyelid dryness, and acne (although very mild) didn't change much.

I asked them if they thought they'd do this again. Both children said: Absolutely not!
