My favorite essential oil company is Rocky Mountain Oils. I'm not a scientist so I really cannot say who has the best oils. RMO has a very thorough website with all the purity facts to thrill the scientist within me. There are recipes and suggested usage advice. Their prices are really good too! Another site I really enjoy reading, they have an awesome price for the 15ml clear roller bottles too! at Hopewell Oils. On their site they have a very informative list of health care topics that include the recommended oils, testimonials and oil analysis.
RMO is the one company most recommended by people I know. I found Hopewell just searching around. I have had some experience with other companies. I just don't like the MLM that comes with a few other big companies out there. I do have some of their oils and as far as I can tell they are really nice and may even smell prettier - less herby, except I am not sure what this means tho!
These are a few recipes that we use with our family:
***Be sure to dilute: for the very fact that in essential oils more is not better. Dilute to help in absorbing the oils, to spread the oils over a larger surface, for economical reasons and not to waste them.***
Girlgoil
In a 10ML roller bottle add:
12 -15 drops of Clary Sage
12-15 drops of Geranium
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil.
This is for my daughter and I both, for balancing our cycles and improving mood during that time. I regularly rub this over my ovaries. I had been menstruating heavily for a year until I started this oil, now my periods are back to normal. It really helps lessen the monthly crazies.
I shared this with a friend one day when she was having sever pain. She applied it over her ovaries as well a few times that day and got relief very quickly.
DryNights:
In a 10ML roller bottle add:
8 drops Juniperberry
8-12 drops Cypress
5 drops Fennel
3 drops Clary Sage
8 drops Black Cumin
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil.
Or if you do not have some of these oils:
12-15 drops Juniper Berry
12-15 drops Cypress
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil.
This has been really successful in helping #3 keep dry nights. I rub this on his feet, although I originally thought it should be rubbed over the bladder area we get better results on the soles of the feet every night. Give this oil a chance to work. In about a week you should see a change. If you miss most likly there will be a accident. This is a relief not necessarily a complete cure. It works and until we the main reason ironed out of why he wets the bed this blend is a must.
Headache Oil
In a 10ML roller bottle add:
10 drops Basil
10 drops Peppermint
5 drops Lavender
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil.
Frisky's Head and Hair Tonic
In a 15ML dropper bottle add:
30 drops Cederwood
13 drops Rosemary
5 drops Juniperberry
5 drops Lavender
4 drops Geranium
3 drops cassia
2 drops melaluca
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil. There may not be much room left.
Dilute with carrier oil and massage daily into scalp. My Hubby really likes this in the morning as he's drinking his Rocket Fuel ( Bulletproof Coffee) - who wouldn't like a wake-up frisky smelling head rub!
Heal Ligament
In a 15ML dropper bottle add:
8 drops Lemongrass
8 drops Wintergreen
6 Drops Peppermint
4 drops Fir Needle
Fill the rest of the bottle full with a high quality carrier oil.
This is amazing relief for overused hands and shoulders, and pain in general. I don't know if it was carpel tunnel or tendinitis but I had to wear a brace on my wrist for a few weeks. I applied this oil a few times a day. It helped with the pain and healing. A few months later a trip to the Chiropractor completed the healing. Anytime we do get pain from over use we go to this blend. Oh, and it smells so nice!
Do the research before following any recipe. Omit oils that you do not have and/or try a different oil in it's place. These recipes are the ones we came up with after our own research.

Essential Oils ~ How to Apply:Feet
Well folks, I've got 1 year of experience under my belt of using essential oils, and I don't know much. This should be the end of this blog post right here! But, no, I am forever wanting to talk about using essential oils and how wonderful they are and how they have helped my family! A five star review and tiny paragraph just isn't fulfilling enough.
As a novice oiler and a obsessive researcher, I'm not really good a retaining information either. There's always something glittery to distract me. But I do pick up some goodies and nothing beats hands on experience. One day I'll have my qualifications! Right now it's all about learning and trying things out that make sense to beginners like me.
One of my favorite ways to apply essential oils is on the bottoms of the feet. I have a handy chart of reflexology nearby to guide me for the best places to stimulate in individual situations. My favorite success story is last summer when I had allergy problems and a wretched stuffed nose especially at night. I would diffuse Breathe or Breathe Ease blends, or rub the oils on my chest and even on my face (not very good idea - burns my sensitive tender face parts like inside my nostrils and eyes). One time I tried just just rubbing the oils on my feet along with a carrier oil. By the time I had laid down I could feel my sinus passages popping open and relief was achieved within minutes. Less oils and quicker results - win win.
So, the carrier oils are the best way to get one or two drops of oil all over the bottom of your feet. I have several roller bottles of blends already diluted with a good carrier oil ready to apply where ever needed especially the bottoms of the feet!
This is what we do:
A cypress blend for one of my sons who has trouble wetting the bed. We tried over the bladder area but did not have the results as applying the blend on the bottom of the feet (concentrating where the bladder area in reflexology). I do this for him every night.
A Breathe blend during times of sinus trouble (as explained above).
An Immune strengthening blend during sickness. Only when the family gets down or acts peaked.
I am currently experiment on applying grapefruit and a metabolic blend, since I decided not to ingest them. It is a little early to share results - if any.
Also I am going to try my digestive blend on the soles of my feet and see if that is a more effective area. I was rubbing it on my belly (it works!) but my skin was getting a little dry and itchy - a good sign to quit or find another place to get thru my system.

Essential Oils ~ To Ingest or To Not Ingest
That is the question!
There is so much information, it's almost an over load. What oil is good for what and all the recipes and opinions available. Cool stuff. What I do find hard to pin down is exactly the best way to use: how to apply the oils. Information seems so vague. Adamantly against ingesting, diffusing only, topical application - Ok then, where, when and how?
I need to know why!
Part 1 ~ Ingesting ~
When I started out learning about essential oils, and keeping true to my nature, I threw caution to the wind. Ignorance is bliss apparently. I used the thought that if you eat lemons lemon oil must be good for you too!
Yes: 1 drop no more than twice a day (I didn't know that at first and really was a heavy user). "Never fear," I was told by a sweet girl sold on the MLM company that this is why there is a nutritional label on the bottle, "This proves we can safely ingest." Maybe they know you'll use more if you ingest! money money money
No: you stupid unprofessional usurper. Consult the elite all knowledgeable ones who won't tell you why not. In their defense I don't think there is much research out there what actually could happen, long term, that is.
Naturally, once again being true to myself, I went with Yes. I say yes to experiments of most kinds (Please read my disclaimer below). My oils to ingest were grapefruit, digestive blends and other various oils already familiar to the pallet.
My digestion actually improved greatly and I really felt like grapefruit was helping me maintain my weight. I really got addicted to the taste: a quart jar of ice water and a few drops grapefruit, aaaahhh!
Then after a few months I began to have a strange feeling in my throat and mouth. I decided to quit ingesting for a while. It went away. Then back to searching again - this time I found the no more than 1 drop 2 times a day instruction. License to ingest, goody! I missed my grapefruit water! I also have been brushing my teeth with 1 drop of straight melaluca oil every night - gotta say it feels good but in the middle of the night I have, again, this weird dry stripped feeling in my mouth and throat.
I've been asking around and sure enough I'm not the only one!
In our homeschool this month we happened to be studying the digestive system. That has really got me to thinking about the importance of saliva and the roll it has to play in you system and how ingesting oils may be negatively effecting the balance. Maybe this is something to beware of.
Bottom line:
Remember Ingesting is not the most efficient way to absorb essential oils. Do your research and be wary.

Bottom line:
If we need to occasionally ingest oils - for example peppermint when extreme cases of indigestion occur (and other reasons we could talk about later). This is what we do:
~ Highly dilute 1 drop of essential oil with 1 tbsp honey or coconut oil (something like that) . This will transport that awesome amazing oil right through the delicate and intricate alimentary canal.Remember Ingesting is not the most efficient way to absorb essential oils. Do your research and be wary.
